VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for NISA. NISA welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds and ages who want to give back to the community. As a volunteer, you will be a valuable asset to NISA, and to many individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.

By volunteering with NISA you are helping us with our mission to end domestic violence and promote domestic harmony.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

NISA has a variety of volunteer opportunities. Since the requirements vary according to each opportunity, we ask that you please make sure you know what you are interested in before selecting an opportunity.

Volunteers who wish to work on the helpline and/or help callers with direct services are required to complete a 40-hour Domestic Violence training to get certified as a California domestic violence counselor.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have recently experienced or are currently involved in a domestic violence situation, we recommend you not volunteer until you are prepared to do so.

Save families, communities and our planet by joining NISA's Recycling Bin Project.

Call or email our office using the contact information below when you are ready for us to collect or would like to schedule a regular pick up with us. You will be requested to have your organization place all plastic and aluminum containers into the bin.

Specifically, proceeds from the project will help NISA:

Supply emergency housing & cash assistance to individuals and families of abuse

Provide basic domestic violence services (please visit www.ask-nisa.org for details) to individuals and families of abuse.

Purchase an emergency shelter for survivors of domestic abuse.

Defray general administrative costs.

The project is easy, free, and beneficial to many parties.
